I bit the bullet. (WoW post)

Last night I respecced Survival. I dropped some ammo on a Heroic combat dummy first, just to see where my DPS was with my BM spec and my Devilsaur. I averaged around 1785. Then I hopped over to the trainer and respecced into the 1/18/52 spec recommended over at Elitist Jerks. I got my wolf out of the stable, and headed back over to the training dummy. I believe I hit something like 2073, once I figured out a bit of a rotation and how to work in explosive shots and aimed shots and things. It's weird having aimed shot be an instant cast.

So.. I'm going to stick with this for a few days, and see how it goes in my next raid, which is Sunday night. Another hunter in the guild respecced recently, and she was hitting 3k dps in raids last week. We shall see if I get close to that. With all my gear on I'm at 1078 Agility and something like 3600 AP, and almost 30% crit. Not bad, if I do say so myself, though I'm sure my crit should be higher.

After I satisfied myself that I was indeed getting better DPS, I wandered off in search of more Elders for the Lunar Festival. I hit up Darkshore and Everlook, and headed down to Azshara to find that one. Boy did they stick him (her? can't remember) out in the middle of nowhere. It took me forever to get down there and say hello. Then, since I was already in Azshara, and I don't get over there very often, I thought I'd take a stab at an Azure Whelpling. I still don't have 50 non-combat pets, so I figured it would be worth a shot. And sure enough, about half an hour later, there it was. I was really surprised that it dropped so quickly, considering it's a .2% drop rate, and there really aren't that many dragons down there.

There was a level 74 warlock down there at the same time, doing the same thing I was doing. After he ran across me fighting five or six dragons at a time again and again, he whispered me and asked if I wanted to group. Basically he wanted half of my loot, because even though he could have been doing the same thing, fighting groups of dragons at a time (he was demo and had his felguard with him. I've seen what one of those things can do with a cleave), he was fighting one at a time. I had a bit of an advantage with tracking, but there was no way I was going to let this random 'lock piggyback off my farming. I politely declined, saying "I would rather not, but thanks anyway", and he said ok. Then he whispered me AGAIN to tell me I could have the first one if I'd stick around after and help him get a second one.

1. The pet is a white item. There is no roll window that will pop up if one or the other of us finds this thing.
2. I don't know this 'lock from Adam, how can I trust him?
3. I'd really just rather do my own thing, and leave when I'm ready to leave.

I didn't respond to that last question. I just kept on doing what I was doing, and shortly after, I got my dragon and left. I headed down to Mara to find the elder in there, glitched out and dc'ed when portaling in (at the water portal, not the regular instance portal), and zoned in to the instance with a "you are not in the group for this instance, you will be portaled to Dalaran in 60 seconds" message. Nice. Because Mara is so easy to get back to, being in the middle of a zone with one flight point, which in and of itself is nowhere near a major Alliance city.

Big sigh, get teleported back to Dalaran without making it to the elder. So I did my cooking daily, and tried to fish up a Sewer Rat. But apparently I used up my mini-pet luck on the dragon, because 20 minutes and two lures later, still no rat. I'll get that thing eventually! Logged over to my Pally, burned my Titansteel cooldown for the day (3 down, 9 to go), hopped on my druid and did my minor inscription research, made Asara a Glyph of Hunter's Mark to replace the Bestial Wrath one she won't be using for a while, and logged off for the night.

Not a bad night, all told. Especially when you add in the delicious dinner hubby made (pork chops and scalloped potatoes, yum!) Life doesn't get much better than this. <3

What Bed Rest?

I was bad last night.

I had asked my boss if I could come in a bit late today, because I know it's going to be a hugely long day, and he said ok. I figured the extra sleeping in time would be good for me, and help me get through the day without collapsing, as I'm still not quite better yet.

But last night I hopped on WoW for a bit, expecting to putter around Azeroth for a while and visit some Elders for the Lunar Festival. Instead I got a quick tell from my guild leader asking me how I was feeling. Better, I replied. Not 100%, but better. He's all like, great! Then he pops up the early invite question for raid, and I answer and get an invite.

Now, I have to say, there was already a 10-man group in Naxx. I thought that sign-ups had been short or something, and they had just started early, and that's all there was. So I asked my guild leader, are you doing another 10-man or something? And he says no, we're doing 25-man, they're just trying to finish up their instance before raid time.

Oh.

So really I thought I was just screwing around, but in fact I told him that I was good to go for raid tonight.

Oooops.

Now, I could have backed out, and he would have been all right with it. There were plenty of people signed up. But I figured what the heck. I told him I might have to go early, but of course I didn't. I stuck it out until 11:30. Probably not the best plan, as I'm a bit tired tonight, but it was nice to get back in the groove with everyone. We cleared out the military wing, and I got some lovely new pants from Gothik. Then it was over to the Construct wing, which has given us the most trouble so far. We got Patchwerk down, and Grobbulus, and Gluth, all guild firsts. Thaddius gave us some trouble, and that's where we finally ended up. Those charge things change pretty quickly. I hardly had a chance to get set up on one side, and I'd have to run over to the other side. In the end we were just losing too many people too quickly because they weren't used to the mechanic yet. We'll get him. We got Patchwerk, we'll get Thaddius too.

So yeah, I ended up raiding last night, when I didn't intend to. But I had a pretty good time, overall. I'm probably not going for another week or so though. Maybe Sunday night, we'll see. I have a lot of work to do on my character.

In fact, as much as I hate to say it, I'm thinking about trying out Survival. I have 300 more agility unbuffed than our current SV hunter (who is a very recent respec herself), so I think I've got the gear to support it. I figure I can try it out for a couple of days, though I'm going to lose just about every pet in my stable. They'll be waiting for me when I respec back, and I will respec back. Eventually...

You're probably tired of the pirate by now...

So here's something to read :) It's yet another apology from me for not posting more regularly. I have a great excuse this time though, really! I may have mentioned that I had been feeling sick last week. Well I finally broke down and went to the doctor on Friday. I figured he'd tell me I had gotten the flu, and it was so bad because I hadn't gotten a flu shot (shame on me). Well, I went in, and they took a chest x-ray. They called me not long after I got home from work, and told me that I have pneumonia.

So I've been in bed all weekend, more or less. I've got antibiotics, and I'm actually almost done with them, and the nurse said that should kick it to the curb. I really feel a lot better, though when I have to cough, it hits me like a Mack truck sometimes. So I haven't really been playing WoW or anything, though I did fit in an hour or so yesterday because I just couldn't stand being in the bedroom any more. I did some mining on Saraabi, and that was about it. I really like the new mechanic, where you get everything in one pick. In the whole time I was out there, I encountered a bunch of nice people, and only one jerk.

One time I had two cats on me, and a nice level 80 hunter stopped, dismounted, and helped me fight them off so I could mine. Another time a warrior helped me with another pair of enemies. And one time I had been fighting this one cat for a few minutes, and almost had it dead, like within 600 hp of dead, and a blood elf swoops in on his drake, sees that the cat is almost dead, and quickly grabs the ore and flies away as the cat dies. I'm only level 71 in a level 75+ area. These level 76 cats are red to me, they take a while for me to fight thanks to them resisting a lot of my spells, and mitigating so much of my damage. It takes me a good five minutes. And this guy wasted it for me by taking the ore I was standing right on top of while fighting the dang cat.

Oh well, shortly after that I found two nodes right in a row, and also a Titanium, so up yours, Mr. Fancypants Blood Elf. And a guildie of mine found a couple more Titanium nodes for me a little later on. It was a pretty good haul, I got enough Saronite for Alainds to make a couple more boxes of arrows for Asara, three blue gems, three green gems, and three each Eternal Earth and Shadow. I got enough Titanium for five bars, so I just need a few Eternal Fire and I will be able to make some more Titansteel to set aside for the Chopper. Next I have to get back into my rhythm with dailies and start making some money. That 12k for parts from the vendor isn't going to make itself! :)

Sorry :(

I apologize for disappearing for three days! It turns out that I was getting sick, and in fact I still AM sick. I called in on Friday and huddled on the couch all day. Saturday was Emily's party, and I couldn't miss that (or make hubby take both kids AND presents AND cake all the way out to Chuck E Cheese's by himself), so off we went for that. I'll have pictures of her cake and stuff eventually.. she wanted a chocolate princess cake, so I had some fun with that. I still haven't had any though. :( One of the lovely side-effects of whatever sickness it is that I have is that nothing seems to taste right. So I'm probably going to save aside a piece for when I feel better, and can enjoy it properly!
Emily got some very nice presents, some My Little Ponies, a Barbie, some foam blocks, and a big cuddly teddy bear. All of the kids had a blast playing games and having pizza. So much so that we stayed for quite a long time! But eventually we had to go home. The kids went over to my parents' for the night, and hubby and I went over to Bob & Sara's to take showers. Because on top of everything else, our water pipes froze over the weekend. As of right now, they're still frozen too, thanks to the multitude of excuses our community maintenance man has come up with over the past few days. He said yesterday that he'd be over this morning, so hopefully we'll have water by the time I get home from work today.
All in all, it was an interesting weekend, to say the least! How was yours?

Big-Tongues, I am your friend!

Dinged Revered with the Oracles last night (finally!), and got the Savior of the Oracles achievement for finally getting the one daily that was still missing from my list, Master of the Crystals. So I've got my first egg sitting in my bags now, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a Green Proto-Drake, though I'd take any of the little pets too. I wonder if I get a tickbird if it will sit on my rhino's horn? That would be kind of cool, since the one that was on there before I tamed it flew away. I'm probably eventually going to push up to Exalted for that achievement, and then maybe switch to Frenzyheart and get exalted with them. But that's on the back-burner until I get all the stuff that I want from the Oracle eggs. Not to mention that there's still rep gear out there that I need to grind for as well.

Didn't do a whole lot last night, other than that. I have started feeling like I'm getting sick. I have a scratchy throat, and I ache everywhere. I took some Ibuprofen and sat in the bathtub for like an hour and a half, but it didn't really help much. I really hope I feel all right for Emily's party on Saturday!

Yahoo!

I just caught up my feed reader for the first time in months. At one point it was up to 1000+, but I hacked it down a bit at a time, and finally, it is empty. I'm sure in an hour or so, someone will have written something.. it tends to happen. But I think I'll have an easier time keeping up now! :) (edit - in the time it took me to write this post, 7 new things have popped up in there)

Thank you to everyone who commented yesterday, and to all the people who called last night to wish Emily a Happy Birthday. I don't think she really understood that it was her birthday, but I got her favorite dinner from McDonald's on the way home, and she is really excited about her party on Saturday. She wants a Princess cake.. thankfully they actually sell pre-made cake decorations for the Disney princesses, so I shouldn't have to go through what I did to make Andy's birthday cake! It was fun to do, but a road made out of frosting is leagues away from an actual princess. Though maybe I could do a crown, I think she'd rather have the actual recognizable princesses. And she wants chocolate cake!

Didn't really play a lot of WoW last night. We watched some TV with the kids, and played a little after dinner. I got my LW epics crafted, which cost me 500g, mostly in Frozen Orbs. I had one, but needed three, and they were going for 100g each. Everything's all enchanted and stuff too, ready to go for my next raid, which I think is Thursday. SI raids Wed, Thu, Sun, and Mon, and I think we'll make a regular habit of Thursday and Sunday.. because too many days of being tired at work is not good for me. The hours have changed since last year too, they only go until 10:30 server now instead of 11:30, but we're an hour ahead of server time, so it's still 11:30 at night for us. And if anyone checks Asara's armory and wants to know, her Giantmaim Bracers are in the bank until she gets another piece of gear with +hit on it. She's just barely below the 8% cap right now (2 points in Focused Aim), and I didn't want to respec AGAIN, so the blue ones stay until I get an upgrade for another slot that's got hit to replace what I'd lose by switching out my bracers. That shouldn't take too long, I believe the chestpiece from Argent Crusade has 40 hit on it, and I'm getting very close to Exalted over there.

After that I played my newest rogue for a while.. I swear I have too many alts to count. Malfurion is full, and I had just watched that video that everyone is talking about, the Craft of War: Blind one. It got me wanting a blood elf rogue, so I went over to a new server, just picked one at random, and created Caelesti. She's level 8 now, almost 9. I already have three or four rogues scattered around.. Macleod (human) on Norgannon, Vylette (Nelf) on Azshara, and Däta (gnome) on Malfurion, but I really wanted a blood elf. I doubt she'll stick around, my characters on realms other than Malfurion don't tend to get played much. Macleod is stuck at 23, Vylette is 9, and so is Däta. Yes, Draevyn (my belf mage) is level 63, but he was on Malfurion for a long time before he got transferred to The Scryers to play with my mother-in-law. But she's not playing any more, so I haven't had much of a reason to play him.

Not to mention I really want to get Saraabi to 77 so she can start turning in her Damaged Necklaces.. she's got two stored away that Alainds and Asara have found while doing dailies, and I have to admit I was a little sad to see that they don't stack. All the more reason to level her up, right? Plus hubby has two characters that he'd like her to play with, so I really should spend some time on her. She's only level 71 right now, but her mining is already maxed from running around Sholazar and trying not to die. She really does pretty well, she can take down level 76 mobs, as long as there's only one. An hour or so in there netted her enough Saronite to send to Alainds for some Saronite Arrow makers for Asara, which was great. It would be even more great if she could just fly around though, and make use of the epic flyer that I bought her near the end of BC!

But of course in the meantime, Asara's still got two trinkets from BC that need replacing.. I hate use-trinkets, so I've been hanging on to the two she has for longer than I probably should have. She's got the Dragonspine Trophy and the Hourglass of the Unraveler, both of which took a lot of time and effort to get. They're not bad trinkets.. but there are better ones, and she really needs to get on the ball about getting them. So much to do!!! XD

It's been HOW long??

Three years, that's how long it's been. Three years since little Miss Emily was born. Every year on the kids' birthdays I look back at pictures of them when they were brought into the world, and it amazes me more and more how they've grown. Sometimes I get a little weepy, thinking that I'll never hold them like that again, but then one of them jumps up into my lap, or even just says, "I love you, mama" out of nowhere, and I don't mind so much. She looks so tiny in this picture, it's hard to believe what a little lady she's growing into. Tonight we'll have cupcakes for dessert, and on Saturday we're going to Chuck E. Cheese and having cake and presents at home afterwards. I'll be sure to have pictures up asap! :)
Happy Birthday Emily!

Oi.

It's an hour earlier than I usually wake up. After I type this I'll try to go back to sleep, but I just had a very vivid dream. It was a bit fragmented, but I remember being at a large gathering of people, and then I left and went for a walk. It was a hot, sunny day, and I saw two girls get scolded by a teacher, and they said they were going to the cemetary because it was cooler there. I muttered the same thing to myself before they answered the teacher. I walked a bit firther, and found myself at a brick building, where I talked to a little girl. I was going to go inside and get some information about the school, but I changed my mind and went back outside. I had a huge piece of gum in my mouth that I took out and put into a flower pot that was sitting on the ground there. Then I went back to the gathering, and someone gave me a bowl of mixed berries and asked me to make something with it, like a sauce or something. While I was doing that, I looked out the window and saw a tornado outside. I freaked out and went back into the other room, saying over and over that we needed to get downstairs, there's a tornado! Someone grabbed me and held me back from going over by the big window in that room. So I turned around, and saw my kids coming out of a different room, and grabbed them. I brought them over to a corner, and passed my mom, sitting there in a chair like nothing was wrong. Someone said, "We can stay up here, it'll be all right." So I put myself between my kids and the window, and kept saying over and over, it's just a storm, it will be fine, it will be ok. Then I heard glass breaking, and felt something hit me in the small of the back, then I woke up. I think maybe it was my cat that hit me in the back, but it took me a while to get my bearings when I first woke up. For a minute I wondered if I was dead, that a huge piece of broken glass had hit me, it was that realistic of a dream.

Weekend Update :)

Happy Monday everyone :)
Not a whole lot of RL news.. tomorrow is a special day though, so stay tuned for that post. Mostly we just bummed around the house, went grocery shopping, the usual life stuff.

WoW news..
Saturday was the finals of our guild "Spanish Inquisition Idol" event. Basically, it's a karaoke contest over Ventrilo. We had the preliminary round in like.. August of last year or something, so this was a bit overdue. We had seven competitors in the preliminary round, four of them went into the finals, and the bottom three went into a separate secondary category. I was in the bottom three of that first round. The prize for the overall winner was 1100g, and the secondary prize was 250g.

So Saturday I was practicing and practicing.. and I ended up going first out of everyone. It was down to me and one other person, due to fluctuations in guild memberships. I sang "Love Story" by Taylor Swift, and I ended up winning the 250g prize, yay! :) The overall winner ended up being a tie, so two people split the 1100g prize. I hope we do this again some time, because it was fun singing, if a bit nerve-wracking!

We also did a bit of raiding last night. All we had left in Heroic Naxx was the Construct wing, so we headed in, though we were a bit short on attendance. I think we had 22 people. We got to Patchwerk, but had some trouble, so after two attempts, we called it and split into two groups to run regular Naxx instead. My group managed the Spider and Plague wings in the time we had left, and I ended up with two new pieces of gear. Grand Widow Faerlina gave me some new gloves, and I got the tier piece from Loatheb! My first piece of T7, so that was super exciting. Hubby and I aren't raiding again until Wednesday, so odds are there won't be any more WoW news until then.

I hope you all had a great weekend too!

Comments taken out of context are funny.

The Whistler: "I had a big one at home."

(he was talking about coffee)

(Honest.)

A question for the hunters.

We cleared out the Military wing of H. Naxx last night, and the Four Horsemen dropped a little crossbow named Final Voyage.
A couple of other hunters bid on it, but because we were all tied on DKP (since we had all been on the first earning run yesterday), it came down to a roll, and I won. Now, I just got myself a Nesingwary 4000 a few days ago, but my RatingBuster showed this as an upgrade, almost all the way across the board. There are a few points of AP, crit, and hit (from the socket) lost, but I figured the extra Agility and Stamina were worth it, as well as the increase in base damage/DPS. Add on to that the fact that I really don't like the look of Asara with a gun, and my CL was there and he didn't say that I shouldn't have it, and I think I made the right choice.

My question is, what do you all think? Did I waste my DKP or not?

Good morning, blogland! (nice long WoW post for ya!)

I am in a very good mood today. Last night marked my return to raiding with my awesome guild, and not only that, but the guild's first night in 25-man Naxxramas. We kicked some tail in there, and I learned a lot! My DPS wasn't up to par with the other hunters, but I expected that. Most of them have been 80 for longer than I have, and have had more time to get rep gear and run heroics. I am confident that once I get some gear upgraded, I will be up there as well.

We started with the Spider Wing last night, and tore through the first boss, where hubby picked up a new necklace. We had a bit of a hiccup on Grand Widow Faerlina, but I chalk that up to attempting an achievement the first time in. Got her down on the second try, and over to Maexxna. One-shotted there as well, and I got my first raid epic, a lovely belt.

We then moved on to the Plague Wing. Noth was our first (and only) real troublemaker of the night, the AOE from the Plagued Guardians was tearing through our healers and dps. We did finally get him down, and moved on to Heigan. Now that is one interesting fight! I died on the first dps pass through the acid/slime, because knowing what you're supposed to do doesn't make much difference when you don't really know how exactly you're supposed to do it. So I watched from the sidelines, and enjoyed the experience thoroughly. Gained some more appreciation for my GM too, he dragged Heigan around that room and hardly missed a beat. Got him down in one shot. Loatheb was last on the list for the night, and had a good giggle when the spores were explained. The mage CL said "They look like a bit from Tron. You know, the little floating thing that went No No No No No..?" Love that movie. I died yet again near the end, just ran out of things to heal myself with. I got a quick battle-rez from one of our boomkins though, and managed to live through to the end of the fight. Two tier pieces were handed out, though the hunter ones didn't drop. I probably wouldn't have gotten them even if they had dropped, considering every guild hunter was there, and I had already gotten one drop.

Because it was our first night in there, and the first night any of us would be earning DKP, all the loot was handled with /roll, although priority was given, member over initiate, and those who had won one thing were passed over in favor of those who had not yet. It was a good night, with little bickering. We went in, did our thing, and did it well. I hope we can maintain that dynamic.

After raid was over, I did some quick Leatherworking. I made myself a new chestpiece, then spent quite a bit on the AH. I read yesterday that they're adding Frozen Orbs to the crafting recipe of the epic leg armors, so I wanted to make as many of them as I could to store away for later, whether I use them myself or sell them. I spent like 1000g on Arctic Fur and Icy Dragonscales, but I got my LW skill up to 440, and was able to learn the patterns for my two Giantmaim pieces, as well as the Ice Striker's cloak, all three of which will be great upgrades for me. Now to farm the materials!

Tonight will probably be more Naxx, though I don't know if we'll have the people for 25-man or not. I hope we do, I'd like to see the Military and Construct wings go down like Spider and Plague did! :)

Well now..

I have myself a lifetime pass out of Queen Mimi's dungeon over there on my sidebar. But as I perused my reader (and tried desperately once again to catch up, but I'm still over 200 posts to read.. Would you rather eat a Milkyway or eat a Twix? Twix.
Would you ever walk around with a free hugs sign like the dude on youtube? Maybe.
Did you ever flip out on a teacher and walk out of a class? I didn't flip out on the teacher, but I did walk out of class in college once. The professor called my parents. Nice, huh?
Do you/did you ever have dreams of being a rockstar? Of course, but I never really learned how to play the guitar, so I settle for Rock Band and Guitar Hero these days.
If vegetarians think its wrong to eat living things, why do they eat plants? Vegetarians don't think it's wrong to eat living things, they think it's wrong to eat animals. I'm pretty sure there's a difference.

Today is a good day!

Hubby and I got a bit of WoWing in today. We did a few quests out in Icecrown, trying to open up the Ebon Blade dailies, then we took a break, and afterwards did some work on our trade skills. I made myself some new shoulders, then went around mining on Saraabi. Hubby came out and guarded me for a while out in Sholazar, since she's only level 71. I ended up with a stack of Cobalt and four stacks of Saronite, plus she maxed out her mining as well. Hubby got the Saronite to work on his Engineering, which he maxed out a bit later.

And the first thing he made me when he maxed out his Engineering? You betcha, a lovely Nesingwary 4000, which quickly got a crit scope and a nice orange gem. My first Wrath epic, and I love it! :) Thank you honey!!
