Just don't know when to shut up, do you?

It's been a while since my last Whistler story, but boy do I have a doozie here that happened yesterday. Hubby's probably tired of hearing about it, since I told him already, and was still venting about it last night when we went to bed because I was so mad. But I wanted to share with you all too, so here we go.

One of the things that annoys me about this guy is his elitist attitude. I'll be talking with someone else in his hearing about oh, say, that I'm going to get McDonald's for dinner on my way home. He'll butt in about how he just can't eat fried food, that it makes him sick and stuff. Halloween just past, he always has to mention about how he doesn't like Hershey's chocolate, because it's "cheap", he only likes Dove chocolate. So it's sort of become a running semi-joke between us that I'm burgers and fries, and he's escargot and veal tenderloin. I try to laugh it off when I can, but it does bug me that the things that I find delicious are "beneath him". This applies to more than just food, but that's the one that comes up the most.

So yesterday he's talking at me about what his girlfriend wants for Christmas, and he says she wants a pair of Keans (I think that's the right spelling), and he asks me if I've heard of them. I say nope! He says, well, of course you wouldn't they're really expensive, like $150 a pair, and prattles on about how he told her that she could buy them for herself if she wanted them that badly because he wasn't going to spend that kind of money on a pair of shoes.

Excuse me?

Of course I wouldn't know the brand because they're pricey?

Up yours, buddy.

I called him on it too, I told him I was kind of offended that he'd just outright say that the reason I don't know about these shoes is because they're expensive. He just kind of went, yeah, well, ok.. and went back to talking again. No sorry, no nothing. I may not be Mrs. Haute Couture 2008, but I'm familiar at least in passing with most of the well-known designers.

He did apologize this morning for offending me. So maybe I'll give him another week or two before I haul off and punch him in the face, what do you think? :D

Hmm...well, I've never heard of them either, but don't we all wish that his parents had heard of birth control?

Honey, I'm gay and I'm never heard of them, so they must be UGLY.

Punch him. Punch him now.

Oh - and how high-falutin' does he think he is - he works in a HOT DOG factory, it's not like y'all are gilding truffles or any damn stuff. Punch him, girl.

I've never heard of them either, by the way.

Good grief, what a colossal jerk on so many levels. Stuff a hot dog down his throat next time he says something stupid (I suspect that won't take long!). Moron ...

And I've never heard of them either but then again, high-priced ugly shoes are just not my thing!

A right, then a left and a swift kick for good measure!
I had a girlfriend in high school who always had to let you know where her clothes came from - and that's before the day of designer labels.
Some people are just so insecure that they just delight in rubbing somebody's face in their psyche.

Look at their website or Amazon.com
An average Keen "Casual" shoe costs $45-$90. For perspective; Look at Nike's website or Amazon.com. An average Nike "Casual" shoe costs the same - $45-$90. It's not your fault that you don't know every little no-name brand trying to imitate the big companies.

LOL at Sara's comment!!!!

I've not heard of them either but that doesn't mean anything one way or another against me. Or you, either. I bet the only reason HE knows about them is because of his g/f.

I notice you said he was talking "at" you. ;)

I wonder if he knows the meaning of Haute Couture???
