Busy Busy! (this is going to be a long post!)

Well.. I just got back to work after a nice long weekend.. boy did I need that! I took Monday off, and our plant isn't working on Tuesdays, so I got to spend quite a bit of time at home. It was very nice :)

Hubby and I knocked a couple of movies off the DVR list, including The Inside Man and King Kong. I really liked the Inside Man, the end got a "holy crap!". King Kong wasn't bad, although I REALLY could have done without the scene with the bugs.

When I was a kid, I thought bugs were great. A relative of mine gave me a little wire cage to catch them in, and I was always out in the back yard turning over rocks to find pill bugs, or scooping up daddy longlegs, caterpillars, ladybugs, anything I could get my hands on. Now that I'm a bit older, for the most part they give me the creeps. Caterpillars, ladybugs, and pill bugs.. I can handle. Any sort of earwig, spider, centipede.. YUCK. So when I saw all of those HUGE bugs crawling all over the people in the movie, I got a serious case of the creepy-crawlies. Hubby didn't help, pretending to crawl his hands on my head and shoulders like they were spiders. It was bad.

I also remember being astounded at the leading lady's sense of self-preservation and amazing athleticism. Within a space of two days, she's abducted by crazed tribal people, sacrificed to a giant gorilla, carried through the forest, then when she tries to escape, hounded by dinosaurs, MORE giant bugs, bats, you name it. She runs through this huge jungle barefoot and never stubs her toe or steps on a sharp rock, and after even the first day and all of the terror she has to deal with, she still tries to get away from all of this and back to the boat she arrived on. I told hubby.. once I ran into the dinosaurs, I'd probably give up. I'd just sit there and say.. you know what? Eat me. I don't know where I am, I don't even know if anyone I came here with is alive.. it's not worth it. But no, she's bounding through the jungle like nobody's business after what had to be at least a week's worth of horrible ship food (no fancy cruise food here, Miss Bee!), and all of the time she's on the island they never show her eating a thing.. or really even sleeping for more than one or two hours. Amazing.

In WoW news (you knew this had to be coming, right?), it was a pretty eventful weekend. Not a lot of raiding though, we had to cancel a couple.. one was due to lack of signups, and the other just kind of failed because Void Reaver has changed and was throwing orbs at anyone and everyone without targeting people first, so there was no warning. We just couldn't adjust. So by the time we got to Solarion, we had one shot, and lost it after the second or third split.

Sunday night was the one that got flat-out cancelled, and so I was going to run heroic Mech with some guildies. A couple of them had started a run of Heroic Magister's Terrace earlier, but hadn't finished. I guess they went back, and cleared the trash again, only to find that the door to the first boss was closed, so they couldn't go any farther. That was when they decided to run Mech instead. Well, our guild leader was in on the run, and opened a ticket with the GMs about not being able to go back and finish up. He pops on vent and tells us that he's heard from the GM, and if he can get a group together, they'll port the group to the last boss, past all of the doors, so that they can have their shot at the end boss. Two of the people that were in before had logged off though, so hubby and I jumped at the chance. We gathered up and went in, and the GM told us to wait in there.

After a few minutes we were just playing around.. hubby was running around in just his tabard, and my guild leader and I were playing around with an addon we have called Boss Talk, that quotes the bosses of the game, and plays the sound and stuff. We were hitting random and seeing what sort of conversation we could get out of it. And all of a sudden, there was a GM standing in front of us. My jaw just dropped. It's one thing to talk to a GM about a problem, it was completely another to physically see one in the game. He showed up as a lv 70 draenei hunter.. I have screenshots, but they're on my computer at home. Anyway.. he's talking to us, and asking how far the group had gotten, then he says that he recommends that we wait there. He wandered off into the instance, even walking right up to one of the respawned mobs, and it just looked at him. So we waited a bit more, mostly just in awe of having been in the actual presence of a GM.

After a bit more, my guild leader gets a whisper that we should all leave and wait outside for a few more minutes. So we go outside, and suddenly people start disappearing. The GM had pulled us to the stairs right before Kael'thas' room, with just the one big pull and Kael remaining. And there he was, standing there waiting for us. We paid him a couple of compliments, then my guild leader put on his murloc costume and started dancing with the GM. Who then transformed into an ogre and started dancing too! I had just tamed a new cat, but hadn't named it yet, so I asked the GM if I could name it after him, to remind me of how much fun we were having. He didn't say yes, but he didn't say no either, so I did that afterwards. But then he targeted my cat and suddenly rose petals started falling on her. He did one last trick before he left us, he turned my cat and my class leader's raptors into diablos! So for a few minutes I had a big devil for a pet! He finally changed them back, and left us, saying that this was a one-time deal, so we had one go on the boss. If we wiped, they wouldn't come back and port us through again.

We managed the pull before him just fine, but right when it was time to try the boss, our internet died. We scrambled to get back in there, but they had already started and died :/ We did get one last try in, thanks to hubby's soulstone on the priest, but the boss just ripped through us on our second try, and that was all she wrote. Darn. It would have been nice to get him after all that we went through to get there, but it just wasn't to be. It was still loads of fun though! And I will always have Zingarnor the kitty to remind me of it, too :)

Is a GM some sort of tech support person?

Sara - Yes.. they're sort of the "gods" behind the scenes, they're the ones that are supposed to solve problems, they take complaints when another player behaves badly, that sort of thing.

They also do some pretty neat tricks! :D

I'm not to bad with bugs as long as they're not roaches. Yuck. Otherwise, I kinda like 'em. But I cannot watch that moron on the Travel Channel who goes around and eats weird bugs and stuff. He actually went to a "Penis Restaurant," if one can imagine such a thing! They had delicious platters full of all kinds of animal and even snake peckers.
Yak! It'd be hurling time for me..
The WOW episode sounds cool. I think it's neat to have a hobby like that that you both like. Now, with me - I'm NOT playing golf!
