MaNiC mOnDaY ~Orange~

A bit of a reminiscence today.

In elementary school we used to play games on rainy days, when we couldn't go outside for recess. Sometimes we'd be allowed to play in groups, other times the teacher would direct the whole class in a game. One such we used to play was called Seven-Up. I don't remember the rules exactly, but I remember that we would all have to put our heads down on our desks, and put one hand out on the desk with our thumb up. Then someone would walk around the room, and push down a few people's thumbs. I can't remember what would happen after that, but I will never forget that smell. When I'd have my head down on my arms, I'd be breathing onto my desk, and the smell of the orange cleaner that they used every night on the desks would surround me.

Strange the things that stick with you, even after all these years.

To this day when dusting with lemon pledge, I remember the smells of all the cleaners used in school ... that orange, and pine are so distinctive.

What a great memory! I'd forgotten that game, but I remember it now. Unfortunately, I can't remember what happened next either.

OMG! I didn't remember that game until you just described it. That is so awesome! My memories of that game were that the air around my nose would get so warm and made it uncomfortable to breathe. I also remember that the person who pushed down your thumb often had sweaty fingers. Ugh!
I also can't remember what happened after the thumbs were pushed down.

Hey! I kind of remember that game too! And it is funny how we remember things, especially smells.

I only went to this one school for a few months when I was little, and yet to this day, a certain smell brings me right back there. Werid.

I remember the game clearly.

There were seven people up at the front, when you put your head down those seven people would go around and each choose on person to "tag" and put your thumb down.

When those seven people were done, the kids that had been tagged stood up and they had to guess who had tagged them. If they guessed correctly, they then went to the front to be "it". If they guessed incorrectly then they had to stay where they were seated and the person that did tag them got to be it for the next game.
