In the News, Comcast style.

My hubby has been commenting on this a lot, and he's got a point. What qualifies as "news" these days is disgraceful. Every day when I check my email I have to go through the Comcast home page, and they've got a nice little flash thing that scrolls through lists of videos and news headlines, for those who want to know about what's going on.

Consider that there's a war going on, an outbreak of TB, an election year coming up.. and out of nine headlines, we get this as our "news" for the nonce.

"Radio bra contest gets $9,800 fine"
"Teens spared in impotent ostrich case"
" 'Sopranos' spoiler alert"
"Hilton completes first night in jail"

Almost half of the links, and they're fluff. Not even good fluff either. Paris Hilton is going to be spending three weeks in jail. What are we going to see tomorrow? "Hilton has eggs for breakfast in jail", or "Paris wants a fluffier pillow"? I didn't even want to click on the ostrich one. There are some things that I don't need to know.

I have a question totally unrelated to this post and all about WOW. Okay...do you have a horde character? I created one because I was curious as to what it was like over there. It's...well different and I find I like my Rogue. So...do you have one?

I agree about the absurdity of what constitutes "news."

The "news" isn't any more. People don't want real - they want fluff.
