MaNiC mOnDaY - Heat!

Before I start my story, I just want to mention that hubby went and grabbed the mail yesterday, and in it was my coupon for a free 20 oz. Coca-Cola product.

Awwww, man! I was all excited too.

In other news, this past Saturday was our company picnic. We decided that we would bring Andy for the first time, to see how he handled the heat and the excitement from the rides. It was also a special treat for him to spend some alone time with mommy and daddy, something he hasn't gotten a lot of since his sister was born last January! He sat very well through lunch and the prize giveaway (I didn't win a thing, but there's always next year!), but I think it helped that the clown made him a sword out of a long blue balloon, so he had something to play with.

We got there a little early, so he had a chance to ride a couple of things before we had to be at the pavilion for lunch. He rode his very own horse on the carousel (with daddy standing close by, of course!), and steered a whale up, down, and around a circle. After lunch we walked to the ferris wheel, and he sat very well on that too. Then Daddy took him on the tilt-a-whirl and the Scrambler. He's braver than me, I won't go NEAR the Scrambler! He also got to drive a car, a bus, a helicopter, and a boat, and he and mommy rode together on his very first roller coaster! I think out of all of the rides, he liked the roller coaster the least, but he still said he had fun when it was over. There was a camera mounted on the track, and Daddy bought us each a keychain with our picture on it.. poor little guy is gripping the safety bar like there's no tomorrow! We also rode on the train, and Andy got an airbrushed tattoo of a green seahorse, that he was very proud of, and picked out himself. We walked around the park for a good three hours, and he never once complained of the heat.

We decided to skip the water park, and once we got home, we filled up our little pool. Andy and Daddy and I had a HUGE splash fight. By the time we were done, there was more water outside the pool than in. All in all, it was a wonderful day, and a wonderful time spent with a wonderful little boy. Even one of the ride operators said he was a cute kid. I figure that's a pretty high compliment, considering that these people are dealing with kids all day, and probably get pretty burned-out on little people after a few hours in the sun.

I can't wait until next year!

Sounds like it was a fantastic day! It's hard to be able to spend quality time with just one, but I think he'll remember a day like this for a long time.

(No Scrambler for me either! LOL)

Great post. Helpful hint for anyone on normal rollar coaster: Just sit without holding on to anything. It is the resistance that makes it feel scary. (I don't know if this works on the ones that go upside down).

Boy, did that bring back good memories! We lived so close to Disneyland, Pacific Ocean Park, worked at another theme park (Knott's Berry Farm) so our kids did lots of riding! And Jamie is so right, it's the fighting that makes one sick - go with the flow!
