Dear Nanny

On February 24, 2006 my grandma passed away. She was my mom's mom, and the only parent she ever had growing up. They were very close, and my grandma was always a big part of our holidays. She would spend the night on Christmas Eve every year, just so she could be with us Christmas morning as we opened our presents. She was a very fiesty lady, she fought off sickness quite a few times in her last years, and always came out with her determination to live her life on her terms quite intact. She never really met my daughter, but she loved my son like her own. Whenever he would stay at my parents' house, she would come over to play with him, and crawl around after him on the floor.

Today would have been her 93rd birthday. Even though it's been over a year since she passed, it still doesn't seem real sometimes. I miss her a lot, but I rarely show it. I know she loved us all very much, and I loved her very much too. I know she's in heaven with her husband, who she lost when my mom was only 5 years old, and I know she's watching over us now, and I take some comfort from that.

I love you, Nanny. You were the best grandma ever.

It hurts to miss someone this much, but comforting to know that she was so wonderful and that she's looking down on you now...

She sounds like a wonderful lady and I can see why you miss her so much.

I'm sure she is watching over you and your family with just as much love as she always did.

Some Grandma's are the best. They are so cozy, they sometimes smell like a flowery perfume and coffee and milk. Nana's are awesome.
I love mine I lost her when i was 11 she was wonderful. I have a ton of memories on that.
