The end of an age

I've had a mole on my lower lip for as long as I can remember. Over the years, it's slowly grown, but not noticeably until recently. The past couple of days, it's started to hurt. Not a lot, but like a pimple hurts when it's just starting out. Kind of an ache when you press on it. I called my doctor today, just to ask if I should be worried, and they made me an appointment for this afternoon. People at work are telling me that they might actually remove it. I'm kind of nervous, because like I said, it's been there forever, and I'm kind of used to it. But at the same time, if there's something wrong with it, of course I don't want to keep it just for that reason. So wish me luck, I'll try to post when I get home about what's happening.

Update: It's still there! My doctor said that he could remove it yesterday, but he couldn't promise that it would be covered by my insurance. So rather than get it done right away and maybe get a bill for $140 in the mail, I opted to take a referral to a dermatologist, and increase the odds that the procedure will be covered. I'm supposed to get a call this morning to let me know where and when I have to go.

Update 2: I've got my appointment set for April 17. Apparently the dermatologist isn't as concerned as my doctor was!

Oh, good luck. I've been lucky enough to not have to get any of that done, but I can imagine it's not fun...

I hope it all works out!

I know what you mean about it being a part of you.. but yeah.. if it's growing and getting painful, you should probably have it removed.

I remember you saying a couple months ago that you were thinking of getting it removed. I think it started causing you pain 'cuz it was angry with you. ;)
Wow! It will be so different seeing you without it!
I have a mole that I just adore. Strangely, I like to play with it...oops, I said too much again! ;)
Good luck!
