Almost oops.

In my department at work we have a tradition of buying people a cake for their birthday. The new guy's birthday is tomorrow, so I asked him this morning what sort of cake he likes. He told me, and asked why. I said oh, no reason :)

A few minutes ago he said oh hey, I need to give you a heads-up. He says, I thought you knew, but I'm a Jehovah's Witness, and we don't celebrate birthdays. I was kind of taken aback, someone had told me he was a Jehovah's Witness, but I had no idea what exactly that meant. So later on today I'm going to do some reading on the faith and see what else they don't do... I'd hate to offend the guy by accident like I almost did with the cake.. oops!

Janna was raised Jehovah's Witness, so you can probably ask her some stuff.
They don't do birthdays or Christmas.
She'd never carved a pumpkin til she stayed with us one Halloween.

You should have just gotten the cake and eaten it all!

yeah and they don't work sundays something about sunset on Saturdays to Sunrise on Monday. I think. Oh yeah they don't celebrate but the ones I know buy presents all year long then. Oh and there are only chosen ones that go to heaven or something like that. Guess I am ignorantly informed. But, if you can't celebrate Jesus being born. I want no part of that faith,

That was nice of him to give you a heads up about it. I used to work with a lady who was a Seventh Day Adventist and I don't think they celebrated birthdays and holidays either.

Of course, it cheated the rest of the office out of having cake but what are you going to do??

And used to be, they couldn't have their photos taken! Or salute the flag...Maybe with the new security rules they'll have to.

If you're going to go through all the effort of respecting him by not celebrating his birthday, will he reciprocate and go through the effort of celebrating yours?
