Some things never change.

I just got off the phone with my husband, and we had a pretty good chuckle over this.

Waaaaay back in the day, when the Nintendo (not the Super Nintendo, or even Nintendo 64, but the original Nintendo) was every gamer's best friend, there was a little ritual that I think everyone developed after owning one for an extended period of time. You would pick out the game you wanted to play, put it in, and it wouldn't start. So you took it out, blew into the end of it, put it back in, and ta-da! It worked!

We bought an XBOX360 back in April or so because hubby wanted to have one to play Halo 3 on when it came out. Everything was fine until a couple of weeks ago, when suddenly it wouldn't recognize any of the games we put into it. It kept saying "Please insert this game into an XBOX360 console". Hubby was heartbroken.. he had just gotten Halo 3, and was looking forward to playing it, and now.. nothing. He called around, and we finally had decided that we were just going to have to send it in, as the place we bought it wouldn't do a thing while it was still under manufacturer's warranty. I was just on the phone with him, and he decided to give it one more go, just to see. Same message. So, on a whim, he opened up the disk tray and blew in it. A few seconds later.. the game is working!!

It's nice to know that no matter how many advances we make in gaming technology.. some things never change.

That is hilarious!
Just a couple days ago I was talking to someone about the "just blow on it" phenomenon with the NES.
Glad to see the tried and true methods still work. I also like to bang on stuff when it stops working. That, if done carefully, can help too!

I remember doing this very thing when the girls had an NES! Too funny!

I've been thinking of getting them either an XBox 360 or Wii for Christmas so this is a good tip to keep in mind if I actually do!
