Flashback Friday
This may or may not turn into a regular thing. I was thinking yesterday about all of the things that used to be cool "back in the day". From elementary school all the way through college, there were things that everyone did or said that you would NEVER do today, and it really wasn't that long ago! With Christmas coming up, there is Christmas music everywhere. One of our local stations started playing Christmas music the day after HALLOWEEN. I love Christmas carols and all, but that's a little soon for me.
What I remembered yesterday was the fun we had as kids making up new words for some of the more popular Christmas carols. I can't remember now if we made this one up or if I heard it from someone else, but I was humming it to myself all afternoon yesterday. To the tune of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer", I give you Randolph the Red-Gunned Cowboy!
4 fellow footsteps:
I never heard that one before. Cool!
The one I remember is sung to the tune of Jingle Bells:
Jingle bells
Batman smells
Robin laid an egg
The batmobile lost a wheel
and Joker got away-ay!
I don't know what part of the country you're from, but I sang that one as a child in North Dakota. Only we said Randolph the Shootin' Cowboy instead. Very funny, though!
Wow, very great lyrics. Great.
Very funny, though!
My dad taught me this as a kid...back in the 80's. The lyrics I know are different...
Randolph the gun slinging cowboy
Had a very shinny gun
And if you ever saw it
You'd pick up your pants and run
All of the other cowboys
Never let poor Randolph
Join in any poker games!
Then one foggy Saturday night
Sheriff came to say
Randolph with your gun so bright,
Won’t you shoot my wife tonight?
Then all the cowboys loved him....
And so on...
Then how the cowboys loved him
And they shouted out with glee,
Randolph the Red-Gunned Cowboy
You’ll go down in shootin’ gallery!
