MaNiC mOnDaY ~ Frost!

Thankfully, we have not had any frost around here yet. I have lived my whole life in Michigan, and every winter I swear that the next year I am going to move somewhere that does not have snow in the winter!

Today's topic reminded me of one of my favorite movies, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, starring Matthew McConaughey (Ben) and Kate Hudson (Andie). The premise of the movie is pretty simple. She is writing a column in a fashion magazine about common dating mistakes women make. To prove her point, she is going to find a guy to date and proceed to use every trick in the book to get rid of him. He works for an advertising company, and is trying to win an account from his female coworkers. To accomplish this, there is a bet that he can make any girl fall in love with him. And the twist is that the coworkers that set up the bet know about Andie's article, so they decide that she will be the girl that he has to win.

Hilarity ensues as she does everything she can to get him to break up with her, and he does everything he can to keep her.

The part that came to mind when I saw the topic for today was the actual advertising campaign that Ben devises to sell the diamonds. "Frost Yourself", a nice play on the idea that diamonds are also called ice, and also reminiscent of the "frosting on the cake". I won't give away the ending for those who have never seen it, but I tell you what.. I can't think about this movie without a grin on my face for the "Love Fern" and that poor poor dog.. Such a great movie.

Just the few references to the dog and "love fern" had me giggling again. It was a truly fun movie. Now if I can only find someone to pay the bill so I can "frost" myself.

We haven't had any real frost up here in the UP as of yet. But, it's coming.

Thanks for your comment over at my blog. It's amazing, isn't it? All the things you can't do until you're at least 18 but don't you dare interfere with birth control rights for kids. Geez.
