Not-So-Fantastic Four

Hubby and I went to see the new Fantastic Four movie last night. I was less than impressed (in fact, I think I leaned over him and made a nice retching noise when it was over). It didn't help that behind us was sitting one of those annoying people who comment on what's happening in the movie the whole time. And he was loving this movie, too. There were a lot of "WOW" and "OH MY GOSH, THAT WAS COOL!" sorts of comments coming from the seat behind us. I felt sorry for whoever was with him, especially during the previews, when apparently he found something absolutely hilarious, and nobody else in the theater laughed. We just sat there with fixed little smiles on our faces and tried not to think about just how empty the theater was, and this guy had to sit right behind us.

There was one really memorable moment, that hubby and I will probably treasure for a long long time, though. The Fantastic Four is a Marvel comic book, so of course Stan Lee had a cameo. It's during the wedding scene, he's trying to get in, insisting that he's on the list of invitees, and ha, ha, he gets turned away. The genius behind us feels that he has to explain the joke to the person he's sitting with, perhaps they're not a big comic book buff.

"That's Stan Lee, he wrote the comic!!!!!"

Har har, har har, har dee har har. Thanks for letting us in on that, big guy.

That's one reason hubman and I never go to the theater anymore. He's afraid I'm going to get him killed sometime because I can't keep from telling people to shut their mouths...
Infuriating.
I'm sorry the movie was disappointing for you!

Grrrrrr
HATE people like that in theatres!

I don't understand how big blockbuster movies get made that SUCK.
Doesn't anyone producing them CARE anymore?

In the original comic book where the two get married, after they have had to deal with all manner of super villain trying to crash the ceremony, the comic book shows two guys trying to crash the party: Jack Kirby and Stan Lee. At least that was true to the original.

This was a horrible film. Truly. You and your husband would have been better off watching reruns of "Matlock"

This is on my list of "not sees" and were it not already there, it would be after your review!

You're a better person than I as I would have turned around and made a comment or two to the clown behind you and then I would have gotten up and moved. Huffily!

I've never seen any of the FF movies. But, I hate to hear that it's not good b/c the trailers have made me want to go see it and rent the other ones. :(

I am considering not seeing this in the theater because of your review. I thought if any one would like it, it would be you and Billy.
People at the theater can be so rude and dumb. I hope I don't act like that.
